My time in Frankfurt is soon at the end. Final Report is under work and I´m listing the things what I have finalized according to my work plan, what I did in march as I was in Finland. Most important things what I have lived here is the culture and I really going to miss that. In Finlad the atmosphere is cold and cool as the weather there. Here I feel somehow happier or is it just because I´m spending here short time and in my mind I have statement to return to Finland.
I hope that the work I have started here brings me back to Frankfurt some day, sooner or later.
Frankfurt is a big city, but same time to get close to it is easy. Even I found my place here in one of the European metropols. I like the place where the Suomi Shop locates. It is called Sachenhausen. It is old part of the City, where the US soldiers used to live after the war and there is still the street, where you go to party and that´s the part of the town, where the soldiers also used to party.
The contrasts of the town is that it is same time somehow very old and very modern. I notised that as I stand by the riverside yesterday looking the highskrypers on the other side e.g deutsche bank, Sparkasse, Hotel Intercontinental, European Central Bank while I was standing on the steps of Städel. Städel is the old old art museum in Frankfurt from 1800, founded by Mr. Städel who didn´t have any children and wanted to spend all his money to support art and artist, which is very valuable thing to spend money, I think.
Yesterday I had a create aftenoon. I got some free from my work and spend my time very well in Städel. The art museum itself has four floor and if you want to see all pictures (30 seconds/piece) it takse at least 3-4 hours there. We started from old, old ones from 1300-centrury. I found one Canaletto, Botticelli and many other interesting paintings. Also from the beginning of 1900 there was many well know artist like Picasso, Monet, Rembrant and some also in United States well noticed painters. Also I noticed that E . Munch (Norvegian) is very famous at these times here. His exhibition is been in Bremen, Stuttgard, and also here in Frankfurt but somehow I have missed those exhibition during the time here in Germany.

SISU radiossa 10.6.
Sisu radiosta Frankfurtissa haastattelee 10.6. klo 11 alkaen. Aiheena yritystoimintani ELS -Something else ja EU Young Entrepreneuer ohjelma, joka antaa mahdollisuuden uusille yrittäjille tulla vaihtoon toiseen maahan luomaan mahdollisuuksia ja kasvua omalle yrittäjätoiminnalleen. Lisäksi asiaa Saksaan suuntautuvasta taidenäyttelyprojektista, joka järjestetään yhteistyössä Pirkkalan Taideyhdistyksen kanssa. Sponsoreina projektilla mukana BLG, logistiikkakeskus Bremenissä, FRAME apurahasäätiö ja Pirkkalan kunta. Tilat tarjoaa Suomen kunniakonsulaatti Bremenissä. Projekti on kokonaisuudessaan kestänyt kaksi vuotta ja alkoi näyttelytilojen etsinnällä. Sähköpostitse lähetin kyselyitä eri gallerioihin ja lopulta linkki tähän näyttelypaikkaan tuli Runomiehen: http://www.runomies.fi/, Reijo Vähälän kautta.
Paikka varmistui viime elokuussa, kun kävin nykyisen Pirkkalan Taideyhdistyksen puheenjohtajan Tuija Virran kanssa katsomassa, kuvaamassa ja mittaamassa näyttelytilat. Sitten alkoi kaikki muut järjestelyt. Näyttelytilojen lisäksi valikoiduille taiteilijajäsenille tarjosimme bussimatkaa koko taideyhdistysläisille. Samalla myös matkaavat taulut mukavasti bussin tavaratilassa.
Näyttely on siis koko heinäkuun Suomen Bremenin kunniakonsulaatissa. Näytteillä olevia tauluja voi kurkata tätä kautta www.rajaton.info. Erityisen tärkeä henkilö näyttelyn onnistumiselle on ollut kunniakonsulin sihteeri Sirpa Furtenbacher. Hän on järjestänyt tiloja ja puitteita, tarjoiluita, auttanut kielenkäännösasioissa jne. Hänelle pitäisi oikein antaa kunniamaininta toiminnasta suomalaisen taiteen hyväksi.
Itsestäni, että olen taiteilja ja millainen sellainen. Ehkä jonkunlainen elämäntaiteilija ainakin sielultani. Maailmaani ympäröi monenlaisia velvoitteita. On perhe, rakkaat, ystävät, työ ja arkinen minä ja tietysti se taiteilija minä, joka haluaa nostaa päätää näkyville ja nauttii siitä. Taidenäyttelyitä minulla on ollut jo vuodesta 2008 säännöllisesti ympäri Suomea ja ulkomaillakin. Niistä löytyy lisätietoa nettisivuiltani www.els.cc ja siellä välilehti uutiset. Lisäksi teen graafistasuunnittelua juuri tämän Bremenin projektin puitteissa ja myös Suomi Travelin ja Suomi Shopin näyteikkunat ovat valmistumassa. Niitä voi käydä katsomassa Mörfelder Landstrasse 19.:ssa , jos Frankfurtissa on. Suomi Travelin tiloissa on myös erinomainen Suomi-kauppa, josta saa mm. Tapahtuma oli nimeltään Tunne Tampere: http://www.tunnetampere.fi/ohjelma/. Mukana oli mm. Pentti Kokko, jolla galleria Hämeenpuistossa, Kati Valkonen Pirkkalasta, Olga Malytzheva Jyväskylästä, Mirja Nieminen ja itse Tampereeen poika Aarto Uurasjärvi, joka myös lausui tapahtumassa runon Mansepoika. Runossa oli jotakin, johon jokainen Tamperelainen voi samaistua. Pirkkalasta minun lisäkseni paikalla oli Arja Krossbeck ja Pirkkalan taideyhdistyksen puheenjohtaja Tuija Virta.
Lisäksi esittelyssä oli mukana myös muusikko Terry Decoteau, joka asuu tällä hetkellä Tampereella ja on opiskellut musiikkia Lontoossa. Hän on ehdoton suosikkini. Hänen nettisivunsa löytyvät osoitteesta: http://www.terrydecoteau.com/biography.html. ja sieltä myös hänen musiikkiaan. Hän soittaa Jazz:ia ja bossanovaa. Häntä voi myös kauttani tilat keikoille tänne Frankfruttiin.
Yritykseni ydinidea on tuoda hyvinvointia kulttuurin ja taiteen kautta ja sitä olisin valmis myös tuomaan Frankfurttilaisille. Akvarellikurssi on yksi sellainen, joka jokaiselle taidetyöskentelystä kiinnostuneelle olisi hyvä aloituslähtökohta. Mitään erityisiä taitoja ei tarvita. Kuvallinen ja visuaalinen ote on meillä kaikilla sisäänrakennettuna. Sitä pitää vain aktivoida. Uusi kurssi järjestetään heinäkuussa, kun tilat siihen järjestyvät. Alustavasti kyselyitä olen lähettänyt mm. Suomalaiselle kirkolle Frankfurtissa.
Suomalaisesta kirkosta, jos mennään yli 10 vuotta taaksepäin niin olin silloin suomikouluopena Müchenissä ja minulla oli pieni nyytti mukana opetustilassa. Nyytti nukkui hyvin, joten suomen kielen opettaminen sujui siinä sivussa suomalais-saksalaisille lapsille. Olin lähes koko 90-luvun Saksassa, mikä olikin mielenkiintoista aikaa elämässäni. Ja nyt tuo aika palaa jotenkin 'kullattuna' mieleeni uudelleen, kun täällä Frankfurtissa käyskentelen, ylitän Mainin, näen korkeat pilvenpiirtäjät, tunnen olevani keskellä jotain suurempaa ja huomaan, että osa minua on edelleen tässä kulttuurissa.

Exchange period: April til end of June
There was certain difficulties at the beginning of exchange time. First of all I wanted to do my exchange somewhat in creative field, but I came up to a travel office in Frankfurt. Anyway I think this is the best possilbe way to do this learning by doing time here.
I started the search of this company already at the October 2012. Or that what the time siged up to the eu portal "EU Young Entrepreneuer". There was some companies that wanted to build up a relationship, but after trying to manage some meeting time, the outcome was already different. I booked the flight to Frankfurt already in February to check out some places, but the companies active in portal were actually not active in taking some young entrepreneuer to their company.
Finally in April I got this place, Suomi Travel: www.suomitravel.fi in Frankfurt Sachenhausen. I have met the owner already three years ago by shopping a car here in Frankfurt, so the start was a little easier, because we have met each other already.
So the exchange place was mine. As I arrived for first week I stayed in hotel Alpha at the main Railwaystation. I book that hotel mainly, because they had in their info page that they are just 50 meter from the bus stop Frankfurt Hahn Airport. So I arrived from Tampere-Pirkkala, middle of Finnland by Ryanair direct flight, which took just 2,5 hours and then there was that bus drive for almoust two hours.
So I arrvided at night and the hotel was just 50 meters away. I was happy. In the morning I had a breakfast with two white bread some cheese and cucumber on it and then to work. Before I left from Finland I printed googlemaps version with feet from railwaystation to my work place to Mörfeldel Landstrasse 19, where the suomi shop is locating. Google maps showed me that it will take 35 minutes and that was just exactly. I was at the time on the front door Suomi Travel.
First days I was quite busy by searching a room for myself. There is just good internet portal for that e.g. studenten wg, easy wg etc. and my first house. I call it house. Actually it was a room, shower, toilet and a little kitchen, which can be used only summer and in April, May that was kind of cold and humid, so actually I had to sleep with my pullover on some nights. Location of the house was just beautiful, in the middle of green park called Viktoria Park in Kronberg. It was a long way to get work (45 min.), but at least I had a great surroundings.
My working hours are week days from 10 - 18 and could be even longer as my boss Juha Haapanen that expresses. People in Frankfurt do long working hours and here is a lot of Banks and people working in that brance. So you´ll see everyday people in black suits so well dressed, I would express.
My first appartment was till end of May and then the other one was found by the customer of Suomi shop. His name is Dan and what impressed me was the language skills that Dan has. He speaks good Finnish, English, Romainia, Frensch and he is eager to learn. He also introduced me to different people and brought me to Finnish church 1.5. party , Vappu as we call that party in Finnland. It was also a celebration of 40 years of Finnish church association in Frankfurt. I got to know lot of finnish-german people which are connected to Finnland one way or another.
I also told for the people I met there that I´m an artist and also entrepreneuer. I also came up to idea that I want to offer aquarell painting class for the people which are willing to do that kind of activity. I also wanted to represent how to do that and luckyly Suomi Travel had a party on 4.5. so I just made a flyer where I told the date 28.5. in Kronberg, aquarell painting class, how people should inform me if they are coming etc.
That was a good idea, but unfortunately I got just two people who really wanted to join my class. So I have to do another try later on July, before I´m back in Finnland. One of the people wanted to have just private classes in her garder and the time was maybe not suitable because that was a holiday here in Germany (Pfingstferien).
There between I have also done some marketing material for Suomi Travel e.g. I have planned how to decorate their show window. Another one of those is already ready with brand new banners, decoration etc. First window will represent products which are sold in a shop like food, some design products (glass, ceramic etc.) and well-being products like soap from natural lingoln berry, towel and other design products related to that. I also designed new gift cards for both Suomi Shop and Suomi Travel.
The new thing, Travel planning, round trip Finland is in a starting phase.
